Zahra Ali

Zahra Ali is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist whose works reinterpret classical Indo-Chinese, Islamic, and Persian illustrative traditions through a modern surrealistic lens.

About Zahra Ali:

Zahra creates visual narratives through acrylics on textured canvas, carved woodwork, and sculpture that honor cultural roots while exploring the contemporary Asian diaspora experience. As a Pakistani-American artist with roots in the Indian subcontinent, her work draws from the rich artistic traditions that traveled the Silk Road, celebrating the multicultural exchanges that shaped civilizations from China to Persia, Korea to Southeast Asia.
Recent exhibitions include serving as the centerpiece artist at Ginger Roots Dallas, the Alternate Roots 48th Conference in North Carolina, and the US Ismaili Arts Festival in Dallas. Zahra’s practice centers on storytelling through art, creating contemporary homages that bridge historical motifs with modern surrealistic interpretation. Her work celebrates the interconnected nature of Asian cultures and the ongoing dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression.
