The One Pho
About Executive Chef Dao Nguyen: Growing up, Chef Nguyen was fascinated whenever his mother cooked in the kitchen. A love of his native homeland’s Vietnamese cuisine and an interest stirred by his mother’s own wonderful dishes eventually led to him working in various kitchens as a teenager, providing the foundation for all the home-made recipes he would eventually bring to The One Pho.
As a chef dedicated to staying true to Vietnamese authenticity, Chef Nguyen has also ensured that rare and uncommon dishes from the heart of Vietnam have also made it to Austin. He prides himself on being able to prepare dishes such as Bò Né (Vietnamese sizzling skillet), Cá Nướng Da Giòn (Crunchy skin baked Catfish), 5 courses of Beef meal (Bò 5 món) and Bò nhúng Dấm (Beef and seafood hotpot with vinegar and coconut juice broth, all dishes unlikely to be found in any other Vietnamese restaurant in Austin.
